Tesla launches its own Tesla Tequila

Tesla started selling its own-brand tequila that comes in a bottle shaped like a lightning bolt. Tesla launched USD 250 its own tequila on Thursday night which were sold out within hours.

The electric car giant started selling the drink, after two years its CEO Elon Musk first referred to “Teslaquilla” in a jokey tweet. The project has been in the making for years.

Tesla Tequila comes with a stand, and is “an exclusive, small-batch premium 100% de agave tequila añejo” made from sustainably sourced agaves, Tesla said.

According to Tesla,  40% alcohol drink, was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, and it has flavors of fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper. California-based Nosotros Tequila produces the drink for Tesla.

Tesla’s history with non-car-related products includes not only alcohol but  earlier this year, the company took to selling mini red gym shorts on its website, in a playful hit back at investors who had “shorted” Tesla, or bet that its stock would drop. Each pair was priced at $69.420.

According to Tesla officials, deliveries won’t start until late 2020 — but some buyers have already listed the drink on eBay. They claim to have secured an order, and many are selling the bottle and stand without the actual drink.
